This was 4 years ago now, the first time I was exposed to this particular phenomenon. From first song to last, almost every member of the audience stood with cellphone outstreched, bathing the crowd in a sickly blue-green glow. It’s a testament to how little some things really change. One generation ago, it would have been lighters held in the same position, bathing the crowd in a warmer but no less eerie light.
